The beginning of the 20th century marked the development of a new fine art possibilities, which, among other things, were formed on the experience of the artistic traditions of the East.

Also, various research in the field of abstract art appeared, thus, the Islamic abstraction (ornament and Arabic letter) obtained a particular importance. This experience enabled that on the European and American continent, the Islamic abstraction finally became „legalized“.

Many artists built their style in the way that they accepted the influence from aside. One of her work, that we shall consider here, is in the Museum of contemporary art Ars Aevi in Sarajevo.

Nora Aslan belongs to that kind of the artists, who their sensibility and talent opened towards the experience of various esthetic and cultural habituses, stressing a daring media research. The artistic works of highest quality are those ones which posses the multi-layered meanings and which can be researched at different perceptional levels.

At the time of blossoming of the conceptual art of 60-s and 70-s of the last century, an opinion existed that the art doesn’t have to be beautiful to have good quality or worse, that more it moves away from the idea of visually beautiful, in the ususal sense, it has better quality. Such opinions were denied by some directions in post-modern art, which right in the visual, they found the meaning of their work, not giving up the idea that the art should create social messages.
