PARIS, FRANCE / The French designer Cyril Afsa seeks inspiration from Islamic art and architecture and hence its no coincidence that his Hadar Table Lamp bears a resemblance to the traditional Islamic Muqarnas.

Muqarnas are designs with formations resembling stalactites and are often applied to domes, pendentives, cornices, squinches etc.

The stunning Hadar Table Lamp may have been inspired by something historic but it has a contemporary rhythm that will make it relevant in todays time. The 3D shape is no happenstance either and it was achieved by 3D printing. Designed exclusively for Specimen Edition and BSL Galerie in Paris, the Hadar Table Lamp may play on flexible geometry but its cultural connotations are unmistakable.
