The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced the launch of its special photography competition during the 4th Dubai International Parachuting Championship from the 28th of November 2013. The competition will run until the penultimate day of the championships with winners being announced on the following and final day 9 December 2013.

Ali bin Thalith, the Secretary General of HIPA commented on the launch that “The competition is launched with the theme of “The most beautiful photograph in the world” under the patronage and advice of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. There will be a total prize pool of $25,000 with the 1st place photographer receiving $7000, 2nd placed photographer receiving $6000, 3rd place $5000, 4th place $4000 and the 5th place winner receiving $3000.”

Bin Thalith added “The competition will be open to the general public attending the 4th Dubai International Parachuting Championships, either amateur or professional. Submissions will be accepted by HIPA representatives at the championships in tent #43 either on CD or USB flash drive. We urge photographers to submit their photographs in high resolution being no less than 2MB in size and that photographs must be also be untagged and free of any form of signature, initial or logo that the photographer may have added.”

Currently in its third season of competition, the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award is set to be the richest photography award in the world for the second season running. Founded in 2011 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the award is set to boast a grand prize of $120,000 and an overall prize pool of $389,000.
