OPEN CALL Mahya Design Competition

Arranged by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency’s Traditional Arts Directorate and also supported by Istanbul Regional Directorate of Foundations, Designers Association and the Design Culture and Management Certificate Program of Bilgi University; the “Mahya Design Competition” aims at making mahya a ‘design object’ for the modern world by bringing out new initiatives to a traditional art of 400 years.

Main objective of the competition is to bring “mahya” wth new designing concepts as traditional forms are limited and fading away. Competition is open to students, professionals and all those interested in graphics, visual arts, architecture and similar design disciplines. Applications should be personally submitted to the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency from 20 July to October 5, 2010.

Application conditions and method:
- Competition is open to students or graduates of fine arts, architecture and engineering faculties and persons interested in these topics.
- Individual or group applications can be made
- Application forms should be obtained from the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency’s Traditional Arts Directorate.
