The 2011 International Professional Ramadan Photography Competition will showcase the skills and imagination of talented photographers around the world as they share their techniques and personal anecdotes about cultural and religious traditions during Ramadan.
The competition is open to talented photographers around the world over the age of 18. Cash prizes will be awarded and winners will have their photos published online and in print. Subject categories include: Spiritual, Social & Everything Else. Participants are encouraged to photograph people in prayer, holy places, mosques, iftar and suhoor foods, family gatherings, or even an inspiring shot of natural beauty and landscape taken during the month of Ramadan.
Evaluation & Prizes
Photos will be judged on the following criteria: Impact and Message, Creativity, Photographic Quality, Technical Expertise.
What are the prizes?
• The First Place winner will be awarded U.S. $2,000.
• The Second Place winner will be awarded U.S. $1,500.
• The Third Place winner will each be awarded U.S. $1,000.
There will be three (3) Viewers’ Choice winners as well as two (2) honorable mentions (although no prizes will be awarded to the latter).
All winners will have their winning photograph (and name) published in internationally acclaimed news and media outlets as well as international photography magazines. The top 100 photographs will be displayed on the competition website until Ramadan 2012. Winners of the competition will be chosen on or around October 15th, 2011.
