Judging will take place in November

The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced the closure of submissions for its seventh season of competition, ‘The Moment’. Submissions had been accepted on the official HIPA website, with the deadline for submissions being midnight of the 31st of October 2017 (UAE Standard). The final week saw a sharp increase in submissions with photographers entering their works into the competition’s four main categories; ‘The Moment’, ‘General’, ‘Portfolio’ and ‘Time-lapse’.

HIPA has also announced that judging for the seventh season of competition will take place in the month of November with full details of the judging panel to be released in the coming period.

The Secretary General of HIPA, His Excellency Ali bin Thalith said, “We are delighted by the large number of submissions we’ve received in the past three months that the competition has been open. The past week was particularly frantic with thousands of photographers looking to enter their submissions in before the competition’s deadline. This interest was likely driven up by the introduction of the new ‘Time-lapse’ category which allowed video submissions into HIPA for the very first time. We look forward to seeing all the submissions during the judging period in November and I wish all the photographers that took part this season the very best of luck.”

Bin Thalith added, “According to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Patron of HIPA, we have continued to grow HIPA into a beacon of the arts on a regional and international level. We have seen that after seven years of sustained success and exposure that photographers from all around the world are flocking to HIPA to take part in the annual competition and we welcome all those that wish to take part.”
