The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has presented a photography lecture to participants of the 5th UAE Leaders Program (Thokhr) which is sponsored by the General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare which in turn is part of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

The lecture took place on Monday the 21st of December at the HIPA Headquarters in Downtown Dubai and allowed participants to learn about the connection between photography, happiness and leadership.

Participants will also be afforded the chance to meet with the Secretary General of HIPA, His Excellency Ali bin Thalith, who is a world renowned underwater photographer, on Tuesday the 22nd of December at the Centro Hotel in Sharjah. The Secretary General will discuss general photography standards as well share some tips and advice compiled from his years of experience.

Commenting on HIPA’s participation in the Young Leaders Program, Ali bin Thalith said “We would like to thank the organisers of the Thokhr program for their hard work and commitment in putting together one of the most important programs for young people in the UAE today.” He continued “Our youth are the building blocks for future generations and by hosting such lectures we aim to become a growing influence to help them shape their future.”

The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) is an internationally renowned photography competition. It was launched in 2011 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. The award enjoys a social and legal stature as a tool for promoting Dubai’s vision of artistic and cultural excellence. On a local level, the award hopes to develop and increase awareness of the art of photography amongst the local Emirati population.
