SARAJEVO / The Iranian Cultural Week, traditionally held every year in Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ended on Saturday January 19, 2013. The goal of this event was to present the heritage and the cultural diversity of Iran today.

The event took place in the Bosnian Cultural Center, where we could visit the exhibitions and workshops by several prominent Iranian artists:

  • BaratAli Elahi, Islamic calligraphy
  • Mohsen Ebrahimi, Islamic calligraphy
  • Gholamreza Shafiei, ceramic enameling
  • Seyed Mostafa Myr Fakhrayi, metal-works
  • Masoumeh Afshar, design of Islamic and Iranian clothes
  • Doust Ehsan, wooden handicraft
  • Reza Badralsama, miniatures
  • Zohreh Zareei Habib Abadi, carpet weaving

BaratAli Elahi

BaratAli Elahi has over 25 years of experience in Islamic calligraphy. He is a master of Nastaliq, and very good in Kufic and Naskh script. He won the first place at the sixth Emirates Albardeh Festival.

Mohsen Ebrahimi

Mohsen Ebrahimi is a well-known calligrapher, and master of Nestaliq script and Moalla calligraphy style. He learned Nestaliq form the master calligrapher Hussain Salehi, and Moalla style from the master calligrapher Hamid Ajami. He won prestigious awards at The International Exhibition of Holly Qur'an, Ashoura Creations Festival and Vaghf Festival.

Gholamreza Shafiei

Gholamreza Shafiei studied under the master Khyran and is specialized in glazing and painting. He received many certificates by various handicraft and cultural heritage organizations.

Seyed Mostafa Myr Fakhrayi

Seyed Mostafa Myr Fakhrayi is a well-known Iranian craftsman specialized in metal work. He participated in many exhibition in Iran and is having engraving workshops at the Millad Tower in Teheran.

Masoumeh Afshar

Masoumeh Afshar is a sewing and design expert. She is working as a teacher of design at Karaj Girl's Technical College with 16 years of experience. She participated in joint exhibitions: Biannual Clothing Design Museum of Contemporary Art, Manto and Scarf exhibition, Handicraft exhibition at the Milad Tower. Masoumeh Afshar also presented her work in two solo exhibitions, in 1979 and 1990, both in Iran.

Doust Ehsan

Doust Ehsan is an artisan specialized in mosaic and wood inlay furniture. He exhibited his work in Iran, Romania, Armenia, Georgia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition, we had an opportunity to see the publishing activity of Iran, the books that were published in the recent years, as well as an exhibition of photographs that presented various aspects of social life, culture, science and sport of Iran today.
