RIYADH / An exhibition 'More Than Papers' by Saudi Arabian artist Abdul Aziz Ashour opened at Lam Art Gallery on April 28, 2013.

It all started in the mid-eighties when artist's fascination with the written word made him follow the tracks of the most beautiful phrases. He realized the importance of language and its power to deliver a visual memory. In the exhibition 'More Than Papers' Ashour explores the use of paper as a vital element in art by making various collage with the daily newspapers, papers, papier-mâché and pigment-based colors.

Ashour believes that the paper is not a just a consuming material, it is alive and voluptuous organism. It becomes the primary tool for the message of humanity, science, knowledge and art. As a result, paper continues in all its forms to articulate Ashour's creativity.
