ART COMPETITION – OLYMPICS 2012 / GET INVOLVED... Mica Creative is leading a unique art competition in the spirit of the Olympics, creating cross cultural and business exchange. Closing date for submissions is Monday 30th April 2012 and a Gala Awards Dinner will be held in June. Winners will receive a cash prize, exhibition in Sloane Square and media exposure, complimented with a ‘Pop up’ exhibition on King’s Road/Sloane Square from 24th July – 8th September.

‘My Place On The Isle’ is an open submission competition for students and emerging artists, ‘Exploring Faith and Identity’ through any visual medium. Artists may be of any or no faith, male or female, any ethnicity and ability. The closing date is 30th April 2012. Judging will take place in May 2012, a Gala Awards Dinner will take place in June with the winners exhibition showcased during the Olympic summer 2012.

Artists will be be judged in the following categories and are required to select up to two categories to have their worked judged:

  • • Best International Artist
  • • Best Mid career Artist
  • • Best Emerging Artist
  • • Best Student Artist
  • • Best School Artist/project

Artists may submit upto 4 pieces of work online as well as post hard copies, together with a CV, personal statement explaining their work, inspiration and why they should be awarded the prize.

Judges include

  • Roxane Zand, Director of Middle Eastern Art, Sothebys
  • Venetia Porter, Assistant Keeper Islamic Art, The British Museum
  • Rachel Campbell-Johnston, Chief Art Critic, The Times
  • Professor Ben Quash, Chair of Christian Art, King’s College London
  • Rebecca Wilson, Director, Saatchi Gallery
