Sahar Al Zarei, the Assistant Secretary General of HIPA has been awarded with the ‘Excellent Achievement Award’ on behalf of Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) at the International Photographic Council (IPC) Pro Luncheon held in the United Nations last week. The accolade is the first of its kind to be presented to an international photography organization in the 16 year history of the Awards Luncheon.

Commenting on the presenting of the Award, the president of the IPC, James Chung said "HIPA’s impact in bringing various cultures through the art of photography is unprecedented and therefore shares all the common values of the International Photographic Council and the United Nations."

The Assistant Secretary General of HIPA, Sahar Al Zarei, added "the responsibility of HIPA representing the United Arab Emirates on the global stage of photography has been an honour for the organization over the past 4 years. Our constant promotion of the art of the Art of photography during our short history is the reason why we have been presented with such a prestigious accolade today, we hope to continue our path towards success and recognition in the coming years."

Since its establishment in 2011, HIPA has attracted over 26,000 photographers from 156 countries with winners receiving over 1 million dollars of total prizes. The current season of competition 'Life in Colour' is set to have 400,000 dollars in prize money on offer.
