SARAJEVO, BiH / The solo show of contemporary Islamic calligraphy art by Bosnian artist Meliha Teparić opened at a city gallery Collegium Artisticum on 14th of January, 2011 and will run until 20.01.2011.

The exhibition “Testimony of Beauty” was opened by Seid Hasanefendić and Ćazim Hadžimejlić, both professors at The Fine Art Academy in Sarajevo. In Meliha’s works Islamic calligraphy is presented in two ways, as an expressive abstract form and as a written text. Meliha Teparić explores the theme through various media and techniques. In addition to paintings on canvas, she exhibited the calligraphic sculptures and wooden constructions in which the angular form of Kufi script is emphasized. The classical Islamic art is interpreted through the contemporary visual language.
