The Bosniak Institute - Adil Zulfikarpašić Foundation in Sarajevo presents the 'Fuad Arifhodžić Legacy' by opening the exhibition 'Watercolours by Fuad Arifhodžić' on October 5, 2016.

Thirty artworks by Fuad Arifhodžić were donated to the Bosniak Institute in 2015 by the artist's son Ambassador Nerkez Arifhodžić, as well as the entire archive material about his life and work, which initiated the formation of the Fuad Arifhodžić Legacy within the Art Collection of the Bosniak Institute.

In addition to the thirty artworks from the Legacy, the exhibition will also show the works from the private collection of Ambassador Nerkez Arifhodžić. The exhibition will take place in the foyer of the Bosniak Institute where visitors will be able to watch a short film about the painter Fuad Arifhodžić, and see the documents from the archives, which are also part of the Legacy.

At the opening of the exhibition the visitors will have an opportunity to listen to the musical performance by the students of the Music Academy in Sarajevo.

Fuad Arifhodžić (1914-2008) was born in Sarajevo. He devoting his life to painting and he first exhibited his work in 1949 at the Exhibition Pavilion in Sarajevo. He was accepted to ULUBiH (The Association of Artist of BiH) in 1952, and he exhibited at numerous group and solo exhibitions. In 1985 UNICEF published his watercolor 'The Roofs of Sarajevo During Winter' in million copies. Arifhodzic was the winner of the Sixth April Sarajevo Award in 2001.

"Fuad Arifhodžić's works show airiness and have unique evocative power. The watercolors bring memories of the beautiful face of Sarajevo, suggesting authenticity of his hometown, which he painted with love and devotion his whole life." said Merima Trnka, the curator of the exhibition.

'Watercolours by Fuad Arifhodžić' is part of the cultural mission of The Bosniak Institute - Adil Zulfikarpašić Foundation, that is trying with their permanent collection to preserve and present art legacy by Bosnian artists.

The exhibition will run until the end of 2016.
