Shahida Ahmed's installation at the exhibition 'Za'ad Al Oyoun - Lure of the Eye' in Sharjah

'Za'ad Al Oyoun - Lure of the Eye' is on view at Sharjah Ramadan festival in Sharjah Expo Center, organized by the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah. The exhibition is a part of series of events celebrating Sharjah as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2014. It was launched at the end of last month and is going to run for two months.

Shahida Ahmed explains: "I was invited by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the U.A.E. Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for the exhibition 'Lure of the Eye'. I was selected as the only British artist."

Shahida is exhibiting the installation 'Oneness', a collection of 99 sculptures made from wood and clay, combining '99 Names of God’ and ‘Seven Different Layers of Heaven’.

Shahida Ahmed is a British artist based in Nelson, UK, but spends a lot of time working in the Middle East. Her work is based on geometric or Kufic style calligraphy and in the last few months she exhibited her work in USA, Australia, UAE and Qatar. She is planning an exhibition in London this December.
