Symbolic Cities: The Work of Ahmed Mater
Since the early 20th century, Saudi Arabia has experienced extraordinary political, economic and social transformation. Bringing together works by leading Saudi Arabian artist Ahmed Mater (b. 1979), 'Symbolic Cities' offers unique perspectives on the effects of such changes on this country. Dr Maryam Ekhtiar, Associate Curator of Islamic Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will act as juror for the exhibition which will be on display in the Main Gallery at Irving Arts Center from September 17 until November 13.
