Two Solo Shows by Iranian Prized Master Artists

Susan Hefuna: Rasm – Of Wood, Silver And Gold

LONDON / This is Susan Hefuna’s second solo exhibition in London and features a selection of her most recent work, including gold-plated brass drawings, silvered-bronze wall sculptures and her signature latticework wooden screens (or mashrabiyas).

‘The Arrangement’ by Amir H. Fallah

DUBAI / The Third Line is pleased to welcome back Amir H. Fallah, who will be exhibiting a selection of works in the Project Space, with a solo show to follow in December this year. In The Arrangement, Fallah works with mixed media and collage as his signature style, presenting works of floral arrangements appropriated from the Dutch/Flemish renaissance tradition of floral still-life painting.

‘No. 10’ by Rana Begum

DUBAI / The Third Line is pleased to present Rana Begum's third solo show, No.10, exhibiting metal sculptures coated with vibrant colours that push the relationship between colour, form and three-dimensional space. Taking inspiration from urban order and disorder, Begum creates surfaces and planes that are luscious and seductive. To engage with these works the viewer must walk around them, embracing the materiality and making the viewing of the work a visceral and physical experience.

Roof Garden Installation by Imran Qureshi at Metropolitan Museum

NEW YORK / A large-scale site-specific work of art by Imran Qureshi (b. 1972, Hyderabad, Pakistan)—an artist known for his unique style of combining the motifs, symbolism, and ornamental techniques of Islamic art with modern conceptual approaches—is the 2013 installation on The Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, opened on May 14. The installation will be on view until November 3, 2013.

‘Breath’ by Hossein Valamanesh

LONDON / Hossein Valamanesh’s works range from multi-media installations to sculpture, video, painting and drawing. 'Breath', his first solo exhibition in London will showcase this variety of practice through a selection of bronze sculptural pieces, two installations and several works on paper. The exhibition will open on May 28 at Rose Issa Projects and will run until June 28, 2013.

Modern Iraqi Art: A Collection

DUBAI / Meem Gallery is presenting an extensive display of works, including paintings and mixed-media compositions, by important modern and contemporary Iraqi artists. Modern Iraqi Art: A Collection takes viewers through the decades of Iraq’s modern and contemporary art production. The exhibition opened on May 13, and will run until July 10, 2013.
