‘Hung From the Moon’ by Farah Al-Qasimi

DUBAI / The Pavilion Downtown Dubai is pleased to present the first solo exhibition by Emirati artist Farah Al-Qasimi. 'Hung From the Moon' is a photographic exploration of the accidental and the mundane; a documentation of autobiographies that form as we inhabit a space and turn it into a home – where lifeless objects come to signify identity and existence. The exhibition will open on May 16, 2013 and will run until August 31, 2013.

10, A Group Show Featuring Multi-media Works By Ten Contemporary Artists

DUBAI / Empty10 in collaboration with 1x1, is pleased to present 10, a group show featuring multi-media works by ten contemporary artists: Carolin Kropff, Corrina Mehiel, Cristiana de Marchi, Lavanya Mani, Layla Juma, Mithu Sen, Parul Thacker, Prajakta Palav Aher, Shivani Agarwal and Simrin Mehra Agarwal. The exhibition opens on May 15, 2013 at Empty10, Al Quoz and will run until June 14, 2013.

An Exhibition at the Atelier Gallery by Emerging Artist Sophia Ahmed Sattar

SAN FRANCISCO / An exhibition of paintings by emerging artist Sophia Ahmed Sattar opened at the Atelier Gallery as part of the fourth installment of its Emerging Artist Series. In her own words, Sophia Sattar "explores the long history of using calligraphy as ornamentation, in Islamic art and takes this concept further by merging her western education with her religious and cultural sensibility." The exhibition will run until June 30, 2013.

Summer Exhibition

LUCERNE / AB Gallery devotes this year's summer exhibition to seven artists from six different nations. In addition to the AB Gallery artists Fereydoun Ave (Iran), Jos van der Beek (Netherlands), Monika Jurkiewicz (Poland), and Hassan Meer (Oman), three new artists, Safaa Alset (Syria), Sahand Hesamiyan (Iran) and Ahmed Zaibi (Tunisia) will be represented.

‘The Letter That Never Arrived’ by Iranian Artist Bita Ghezelayagh

LONDON / Bita Ghezelayagh’s is having a second solo show at Rose Issa Projects (25 April – 24 May 2013), featuring a new body of work that explore the aesthetic and poetic qualities of traditional Middle Eastern and Persian carpets. Bita Ghezelayagh started her career as an architect with a specialism in the restoration of historic buildings, and has always been motivated to preserve traditions threatened by mass production and contemporary taste.

‘Time of Transformation’ by Youssef Nabil

DUBAI / The Third Line is pleased to present internationally acclaimed artist Youssef Nabil’s fourth solo show in Dubai, which premieres the New York based Egyptian artist’s latest body of work. Working with his characteristic technique of hand painted silver gelatin photographs, Nabil introduces us to three new series that reflect upon the clash of archetypes that define the state of his present day home country. The exhibition will open on April 24 and will run until June 12, 2013.
