Next month’s Abu Dhabi Art welcomes contemporary designers, artists, architects

Abu Dhabi / The fourth edition of Abu Dhabi Art, a platform for modern and contemporary art held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, welcomes renowned art world personalities for its 2012 public programme. Adel Abidin, Frank Gehry, Richard Armstrong, Jean Nouvel, Subodh Gupta, Bharti Kher, Stuart Haygarth, Abdulnasser Gharem, Ghada Amer, Mohammed Kazem and Marina Abramovic (for her first time in the Middle East), are just some of the names in town that week, reflecting the international calibre of Abu Dhabi Art and the capital as a cross-roads for the arts scene.

QUOZ: First Initiative Among 30 Arts Spaces in ME Region

DUBAI / This November, the UAE’s arts scene continues to diversify with the launch of a new annual arts initiative titled QUOZ, the first such project to take place in the region. An array of events dedicated to the public will take place on 10 November among 30 arts spaces in the industrial area of Al Quoz, Dubai, from 10am - 10pm.

MICA Creative Finds Its Place In The British Isle!

LONDON / On Tuesday 3rd July, tucked away in gallery 8 of the Saatchi Gallery off King’s Road, Mica Creative announced the winner’s of the art competition and major summer exhibition, ‘My Place On The Isle: Exploring Faith & Identity’. An incredibly successful auction raised up to £50,000 for Mica Creative! The winning and shortlisted artists exhibition will be showcased at the Mica Gallery from 30th July – 8th September 2012, coinciding with the Olympic summer.

The Muscat International Festival for Arts and Crafts 2012

Muscat Municipality, Sultanate of Oman and the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), Istanbul, jointly organised the second session of the Muscat International Festival for Arts and Crafts on 3 February – 01 March 2012 in Muscat. The Festival was accompanied by 'Muscat International Award for Innovation and Creativity in the Crafts' (worth US$100,000); and the 'International Exhibition of Artisans-as at-work'.

‘Dust Breeding’ by Turkish Artist Ergin Çavusoglu

The Pavilion Downtown Dubai presents a solo show by Turkish artist Ergin Çavusoglu (October 2 – December 4, 2011) consisting of a largescale interactive vinyl perspective floor drawing in Gallery 2. The artwork functions as a manipulation of perception and space and also provides an astute commentary on issues of real estate and labor.
