Middle Eastern Contemporary Art Market Comes to London

LONDON / The Auction Room, the new online auction house, is delighted to announce the inaugural auction of Middle Eastern Contemporary Art which will take place online on September 19, 2013 at 7pm London time. The auction will be on exhibition at 27 and 28 Cork Street, Mayfair, September 17-19, 2013.

Orient Arts and Orientalism

PARIS / On June 3rd, 2013, MILLON Auction House and the Expert Lucien ARCACHE wil present some 300 lots of 'ORIENT ARTS AND ORIENTALISM'. Amongst the iconic lots of this auction are an oil painting on canvas by Arthur von Ferraris, two portraits by José Cruz Herrera, a Kashan tile from the beginning of the 13th century, and a two Iznik panel from c.1580.

Sotheby’s London To Offer A Magnificent Private Collection of Fine Travel and Illustrated Books

LONDON / On 28th February 2013, Sotheby’s London will present for auction a superb private collection of Fine Travel and Plate Books comprising some of the most magnificent illustrated travel books on the grandest scale together with watercolours and manuscripts - some of which are unique and contain previously unpublished material - the 142 lots are expected to raise in excess of £1.5 million.

The Highlights From Sotheby’s Forthcoming London Auction ‘Arts of the Islamic World’

DOHA / On 14th -15th September, 2012 Sotheby's staged an exhibition in Doha, Qatar at Katara Gallery, Building 22, Katara Cultural Village, of select highlights from the company’s forthcoming London biannual ‘Arts of the Islamic World’ auction on October 3rd 2012. The exhibition featured 40 masterworks of fine craftsmanship and traditions unique to Muslim culture, which span the Islamic world and ages.

The New World Record at Auction for the Artist

LONDON / In a dramatic bidding battle at Sotheby’s London saleroom (on Tuesday night 19th June 2012), a new benchmark was set when Joan Miró’s 1927 modern masterpiece Peinture (Étoile Bleue) sold for £23,561,250 / $36,946,396 / €29,260,764, exceeding the pre-sale estimate of £15-20 m / US$ 23.7 - 31.6 m / € 18.4 -24.5 m and shattering the previous record for the artist at auction.
