Athr is searching for up-and-coming local artists who work across a range of styles and mediums. This exhibition will demonstrate the continuity and growth of the Saudi art scene, to show that it is expanding, flourishing, and here to stay.

Monir Farmanfarmaian 2004-2013

DUBAI / A survey exhibition of Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian that reflects upon the past decade of her remarkable artistic journey will open at The Third Line on March 18, 2013. By showcasing works from 2004 until now – including those being displayed for the first time – the exhibition will highlight Monir’s stellar career as a pioneer in contemporary Iranian art.

‘Sulook’ by Iranian Sculptor Sahand Hesamiyan

DUBAI / The Third Line is pleased to introduce Iranian sculptor Sahand Hesamiyan, the newest addition to the gallery’s represented artists. His upcoming exhibition 'Sulook', in the gallery’s Project Space, presents ancient concepts of transcendence in an ultra-modern context, with contemporary sculptural pieces taking cue from Islamic architecture. The exhibition opens tonight and will run until March 7, 2013.

SARAJEVO / The Iranian Cultural Week, traditionally held every year in Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ended on Saturday January 19, 2013. The goal of this event was to present the heritage and the cultural diversity of Iran today.

A Journey of Belonging

JEDDAH / Athr Gallery is presenting the renowned Saudi artist Manal Al-Dowayan’s first solo exhibition in Saudi Arabia, 'A Journey of Belonging', introducing new work by the artist as well as seminal work from her previous series. The exhibition explores the artist’s frequent voyages into the past in search of understanding and mutual acceptance. The exhibition opens today and will run until February 15th, 2013.

ISTANBUL / All Arts Istanbul will be held for the first time in April 2013, at the Istanbul Convention Center, and it will offer art enthusiasts a wide array of works, ranging from Turkish and Ottoman traditional arts to antiques, from modern to contemporary art. In addition to a variety of artworks from Turkey, Middle East and North Africa, antiques and contemporary art will be presented to audiences side by side for the first time.
