Manuscripts of the Qur’an - part 1

SARAJEVO (BiH) / The exhibition "Manuscripts of the Qur'an" from the Archives of the Sarajevo City takes place in the historic place called Hanikah, from 16th century, across the Gazi Husrev bei Mosque. The exhibition will be open until the 26th of November 2010.

Orientalist Museum launches “Journey into the World of the Ottomans”

Doha 28th October 2010 – The Orientalist Museum (part of Qatar Museums Authority) opened its first exhibition entitled “A Journey into the World of the Ottomans” Thursday 28th October 2010 as part of QMA’s activities celebrating Doha as the Arab Capital of Culture 2010. The exhibition will be open to the public from Friday 29th October until 24 January 2011 in the temporary gallery of the Museum of Islamic Art.

Madinat al Zahra Museum in Cordoba (Spain)

The tenth-century palace city of Madinat al Zahra is widely considered to be one of the most significant early Islamic archaeological sites in the world, and the most extensive in Western Europe. Madinat al Zahra Museum is being nominated for the 11th Cycle of Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The final Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar in November 2010.

Souk Wakif is being nominated for the 11th Cycle of Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The projects shortlisted by the independent Master Jury are now being technically reviewed by a select group of architects, urban planners and engineers. The reviews will be submitted to the Master Jury before the Award recipients are chosen. The final Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar in November 2010.
