In order to introduce the size and scope of the tragedy, 11541 empty chairs were set in Sarajevo's main street to marks every killed civilian during the Sarajevo siege, between 1992 until 1996. The performance was conceived as a concert to which all killed citizen were invited and who unfortunately couldn't come.
During the period of four years Bosnia and Herzegovina was the victim of severe aggression by Serbia and Montenegro, where Sarajevo suffered the longest military siege of a city in a modern history of mankind. The city was targeted with over 1.000,000 various projectiles, which killed 11541 citizen and among them over 1600 children.
