The ebru exhibition 'An Infinite Array of Colours' by Nihal Ture opened at the Collegium Artisticum in Sarajevo.

'An Infinite Array of Colours' is organized by Sarajevo Winter Festival and International University of Sarajevo. The curator of the Sarajevo Winter Festival is Dr. Meliha Teparić. The exhibition was opened by ebru master Alparslan Babaoglu, Nihal Ture's mentor in the presence of Sarajevo public on March 10, 2017.

Ebru (Turkish Marbling) is thought to have originated in Middle Asia and came to Istanbul via Silk Road. The oldest ebru dates back to the 15th century. Marbling has traditionally been used to decorate book edges and the borders of calligraphy works. Today, ebru is recognized as a traditional form of art and its different styles, like batal, kumlu, gel-git and floral, among others, are highly respected. It is created by sprinkling paint onto water with a thicken consistency, using a brush with a horse hair. The design is then transferred to the paper. Ture's work is showing artist's focus on colours and details which are not easy to achieve in ebru.

Nihal Ture was born in 1960 in Kayseri (Turkey). She lived in US for 3 years, in Jordan for 2 years, in Oman for 7 years and in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 3 years. She learned tezhip (illumination) from Necati Sancaktutan, Mustafa Celebi and Saime Celebi in Istanbul. She learned ebru from Nuray Oyke, Onder Cankurtaran and Alparslan Babaoglu. In 2014 she was awarded by Alparslan Babaoglu with certificate of master in ebru, which enabled her, according to the tradition, to teach ebru. Between 2014 and 2016 she gave marbling classes at the Huseyin Avni Sozen Anatolian High School. She had many exhibitions.
