'Between Lands and Seas' is Dia Batal’s first solo exhibition in Dubai; it features recent and never before seen artworks.

In this exhibition Dia Batal explores notions of belonging, identity, and what constitutes the meaning of home. Borrowing texts from poetry, literature, and narratives from her own family history, she investigates, using materials such as paper and metal, the meaning of home as an internal point of orientation.

The artworks also examine the significance of involuntary departures from a homeland, and what remains with us along those routes of departures. The exhibition features drawing, collage and silkscreen on paper, and sculpture in metal and is on view until April 18, 2018 at XVA Gallery in Dubai.
