The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced the winners of the 'Rehlatna' photo contest which took part at the longest graffiti wall in the world in Dubai, UAE.

The 2.25 km long wall was the centre stage for photographers to document its inception as part of the United Arab Emirates’ 43rd National Day celebrations which took place on the December 2, 2014.

A large number of photographs were submitted for the contest, with the majority coming from the ever-growing pool of Emirati and expat photographers residing in the UAE. In total, 5 winners were awarded 10,000 dirhams each for their winning photographs. The winning photographers were Nidal Morra (Palestine), Edwin Mendoza (Philippines), Ibrahim Al Bishari (Libya), Christopher Edralin (Philippines) and Mario Cardenas (Philippines).

The Secretary General of HIPA, Ali bin Thalith said that "HIPA’s management are certainly delighted with the 'Rehlatna' photo contest and especially with the quality of photographs which were submitted. The 'Rehlatna' initiative was unique in the sense that it incorporated a record-breaking project in the longest graffiti wall in the world to go with the 43rd UAE National day celebrations. HIPA’s participation offered photographers the opportunity to join the celebrations and be part of this history making initiative; we congratulate all the winners that were a part of it."

Currently in its fourth season of competition (Life in Colour), the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award was founded in 2011 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. With a grand prize of $120,000 and an overall prize pool of $400,000 the competition; submissions can be submitted through the official website before Midnight of December 31, 2014 (UAE Standard).
