The Islamic Art Collection on View at The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Mar 02, 2012 Art Collection
The exhibition is dedicated to Ćiro Truhelka, the first director of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The collection has extremely valuable examples of Islamic art originally from Persia, Turkey and Bosnia. The art pieces belonged to Truhelka's private collection, and today they are a part of the collection of Sarajevo museums and cultural institutions.
The highlight of the exhibition are the outstanding works in metal, of Persian origin with delicate workmanship and beautiful ornaments, among which stands out a beautiful ewer with figural scenes of hunting. Our attention attracts also very richly decorated costume of urban women from Bosnia, decorated with motifs of tugra.
The exhibition presents also numerous examples of exquisite jewelry, dishes, war armor and various weapons.
