Art Basel Hong Kong The Third Line - Online Viewing Rooms
Mar 16, 2020 EVENT, Art Fair
While Rana Begum draws inspiration from the dense and complex geometries of our urban fabric, her works are the result of a methodic refinement and purification of these geometries, only leaving a macro visual of her source material.
On the other hand, Jordan Nassar is concerned with the intricacies found in geometric methodology. Inspired by traditional Palestinian weaving patterns, his and embroidered canvases illustrate the dynamism and complexity of the geometrical minutiae found in this craft.
From these two seemingly opposing concerns and approaches, the artists achieve a powerful balance between abstraction and content, history and hybridity, micro and macro.
