A Sonic Evolution of The Yard

A specially commissioned sound installation, by Safeya Alblooshi, will be revealed. An immersive creation that intricately weaves together the past, present, and potential future of The Yard, Resonant Yard is a blend of imagination and historical reference that draws from archival materials — textual, visual, and sonic — to translate historical accounts and speculative visions into sonic elements of the space and its multiple identities, echoing the space’s evolution.

A botanical re-thinking of the Avenue’s Yard

As part of a project to renew and improve the spaces of the congregation within the Avenue, The Yard will be home to new botanical and architectural features. With landscaping design by Zain Masud and the urbanscape by T.Sakhi, the project rediscovers the indigenous or native plants of this region and celebrates local craftsmanship, marking a turning point for the Avenue’s public realm.

Livestreaming since 1998

The oldest waterhole cam in Africa and the world has been live-streaming footage of the stunning Gowrie Dam on Djuma Game Reserve in the Sabi Sand Wildtuin, South Africa, since 1998. This livestream draws parallels between the watering hole and The Yard, framing them as spaces of gathering and respite. The stream invites visitors to slow down and pay attention to how humans, non-humans, and more-than-humans, gather.
