Arte Laguna Prize, the International Prize for Contemporary Art and Design organized by the Cultural Association MoCA (Modern & Contemporary Art), composed of over 200 members including entrepreneurs, professionals, collectors and art lovers, turns 15 years old.

The Prize obtained two medals from the President of the Italian Republic. Arte Laguna Prize is organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of the Territory and the Sea, the Veneto Region, the Municipality of Venice, the Ca'Foscari University of Venice, the European Institute of Design. Despite the Coronavirus, in recent months, the organization continued its work. In 2021 it will celebrate this important milestone with a double exhibition in the iconic spaces of the Arsenale Nord in Venice, from 13 March to 5 April 2021. 240 works from all over the world, will be displayed in 4,000 square meters of exhibition space.

THE JURY

The international jury changes, with each edition, which allows new perspectives, and offers a 360° overview of contemporary art. The jury is composed of curators and directors of museums operating in different countries.

  • Nathalie Angles (United States) - Founder and executive director of Residency Unlimited
  • Lorenzo Balbi (Italy) - Artistic director at MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna
  • Marcus Fairs (United Kingdom) - Founder and editor-in-chief of Dezeen
  • Matteo Galbiati (Italy) - Art critic and curator
  • Sophie Goltz (Singapore and Austria) - Curator and educator
  • Toshiyuki Kita (Japan) – a Japanese Designer, honoured with the ADI Lifetime Achievement Award “Compasso d’Oro alla carriera internazionale”
  • Beate Reifenscheid (Germany) – Director of Ludwig Museum Koblenz and President of ICOM Germany

The jurors will select the finalists who will exhibit at the Arsenale of Venice and the three absolute winners of the cash prizes of € 10,000 each. A new addition to Arte Laguna Prize 15 is also the Advisory Council (the honorary committee) supporting the jury, composed of high-profile personalities from different fields sharing deep expertise in the art world globally.

Furthermore, from this year, the Arte Laguna Prize dissemination circuit has been enriched by Art Managers from different countries who collaborate with the Cultural Association MoCA to spread its mission and promote the competition.
