P21 Gallery invites UK based art students & emerging artists aged 30 and under to submit their work to be considered for a ‘reACT’ exhibition.

Supported by Amal (a Saïd Foundation programme), the ‘reACT’ programme has been established to promote and support emerging and student artists whose work is related to the Arab world by providing space for an artistic intervention within the P21 Gallery. Producing contemporary art is very much connected to the way that artists and institutions present the artwork and requires a space where artists can be in direct dialogue with society. Therefore, selected artists are presented with an invaluable opportunity to produce an artwork specifically designed for a section of the P21 gallery (that is not part of any particular exhibition) and will be provided with exhibition space at no cost, an artist stipend, curation and support for exhibition-related events and opportunities for mentorship.

The intention is to provoke and entice artists to create site-specific artwork for P21 Gallery, taking into consideration its physical space and ethos as a contemporary art institution in London with a focus on the Middle East, while also encouraging personal expression, exploration and cultural affirmation through artistic practice.

ELIGIBILITY

The ‘reACT’ OPEN CALL is available to UK-based art students & emerging artists aged between 18-30 years.

CRITERIA

Submissions should aim to creatively respond to the following objectives:

  • To increase understanding of Britain’s Muslim communities among people of other faiths and none;
  • To foster a stronger sense of belonging in the UK among its Muslim communities.

DEADLINE

Deadline for consideration has been extended to 1 July 2020 for the exhibition taking place late November 2020.
