Dzeko Hodzic is a famous Bosnian painter. He builds his art on the interpretations of traditional symbol of Bosnia. His works can be identified and determined by Islamic motifs and preoccupation with the themes from the recent history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, suffused by war and destruction. His work is generally dominated by abstract symbols and highly stylized motifs. Special emphasis is on the colour as a strong spiritual element. In this exhibition we can see the art pieces from various stages of his artistic path. This retrospective exhibition is one of the largest and most visited this year in Sarajevo.

With this retrospective exhibition, which shows about 150 works from the rich creative opus, Dzeko Hodzic marks two anniversaries, 60 years of age and 40 years of artistic work. “Unfortunately, part of my opus is irreversibly lost in the destruction during the war, somewhere around 2000 different works, sketches, drawings, sculptures, paintings…” Hodzic said in an interview for Islamic Arts Magazine.
