‘Sarajevo / Istanbul - Pearls of Ottoman Architecture’ in Mostar - Magazine

The photo exhibition 'Sarajevo / Istanbul - Pearls of Ottoman Architecture' is back on tour across the Bosnian cities, currently on view in Mostar.

The travelling photo exhibition 'Sarajevo / Istanbul - Pearls of Ottoman Architecture' is a part of the project entitled 'Promotion of the Ottoman Cultural Heritage of Bosnia and Turkey' which is organized by Monolit, Association for Promoting Islamic Arts and supported by the Republic of Turkey (YTB - T.C. BAÅžBAKANLIK YurtdÄ±ÅŸÄ± TÃ¼rkler ve Akraba Topluluklar BaÅŸkanlÄ±ÄŸÄ± / Prime Ministry, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities). The project will result in publishing a book which will present the beauty of Sarajevo Ottoman architecture.

The photo exhibition 'Sarajevo / Istanbul - Pearls of Ottoman Architecture' opened at the Center for Culture in Mostar on May 5th. The exhibition presents twenty four photographs of selected mosques from Sarajevo and Istanbul. What connects these two cities certainly are monuments of Ottoman architecture. Istanbul has always been the center from which all expanded, and Sarajevo was a reflection of that influence. Thus, the links between the two cities are obvious. The most beautiful examples of classical Ottoman architecture can be found in Istanbul, while Sarajevo is the jewel of the Balkans. The most memorable pearl of the Ottoman architecture has always been a mosque. This exhibition presents twenty four photographs, twelve from Sarajevo and twelve from Istanbul. The authors of the photographs are Kenan Å urkoviÄ‡ and Elvira BojadÅ¾iÄ‡.

The exhibition is on view until May 9, 2017 at the Center for Culture in Mostar.
