May 21, 2018 Photography
HIPA Secretary General, His Excellency Ali bin Thalith said, “The April edition of the Instagram Photo contest featured some very creative silhouette photography. The winning photographs were a testament to the power of silhouette photography and the mixed emotions it invokes in all of us. Our winners were able to convey various emotions, moods and even some mystery in their winning images. We commend them on their efforts. We also wish to thank all those that took part in the competition and wish them luck in upcoming editions.â€
Indonesian photographer and winner for the month of April, Sutanto Nurhadi Permana @nurhadipermana said, “I took my winning photograph in February 2017 on a football field in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. I wanted to capture the football players with my camera the best way I could and luckily managed to find an interesting angle behind the goalkeeper when I snapped the photograph. Despite this being my first ever win in any form of photography competition, I hope that it will encourage me to capture more creative and mind-blowing photographs. It is very important for photographs to not only capture a photograph but to convey the thoughts within the image to the audience, and I plan to continue doing that.â€
Mohamed Safwat Abdullah Ali @abonour38 from Egypt is another Instagram Photo Contest winner, and he said, “I work in a steel factory and one day saw a co-worker walk past a factory door with the fog giving a beautiful effect in the background. The beauty of the image was very inspiring and I managed to capture the moment quickly with my cellphone, not knowing that it would result in an award winning photograph. I have previously won some awards with different FIAP photography competitions but I believe that the HIPA Instagram Photo Contest has a special placing in terms of career milestones for me. I really hope that I can now kick on and perhaps win with HIPA’s main competition in the future. I aspire to become more recognised within the photographic industry and further build my CV in the coming years through travel and by having my works published in major international publications.â€
